The Returning Officer, Sabon Gari Local Government Council, in the just concluded local government elections, Malam Abubakar-Mohammed Sadiq, has announced Alhaji Mohammed Usman of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the chairmanship elections.
He said Alhaji Usman scored 32,405 votes to defeat his closest contender, Alhaji Abdu Bello of the Peoples Democratic Party who scored 13,777 votes.
According to him, Usman had satisfied the requirements of the law, having scored the highest number of votes.
The local government elections were conducted in 19 local government areas of Kaduna State.
The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM), before the election on Saturday, postponed the exercise in four local governments, citing security threat as reason.
In spite of some technical hitches during the Saturday elections occasioned by the malfunctioning of electronic voting machines, coupled with low turn-out of voters, the exercise was conducted peacefully.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that KADSIECOM conducted the elections on September 4 across 19 local government areas in the state.
