1. Christian faithful in Nigerian, on Sunday joined the rest of the word to mark this year’s Easter. Easter is the commemoration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

2. Eight bomb blasts in churches and hotels across Sri Lanka, have reportedly left no fewer that 207 people dead and 400 seriously injured.

The coordinated attacks were said to have targeted congregations, who were taking part in Easter Sunday services at various churches when the blasts went off simultaneously.

3. The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu, has said he has no secret motive in supporting Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila to be the next Senate President and House Speaker, respectively.

Tinubu in a statement by his spokesperson, Tunde Rahman, on Sunday denied supporting both men in their quest to lead the incoming National Assembly with a view to positioning himself to become potential presidential candidate of the APC, in 2023.

4. A team of surveillance attached to the Police Command in Lagos State has arrested five traffic robbery suspects, the spokesperson of the command, DSP Bala Elkana, has said.

Elkana said in a statement that the suspects were arrested by the police patrol team on surveillance along Oshodi/Apapa express way.

5. Residents of some communities in Kaduna State, on Sunday protested the repeated kidnappings in their areas.

The residents of Nariya and Kanama communities blocked the Nnamdi Azikwe Expressway during the protest.

6. Operatives of the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences have nabbed a notorious criminal for robbery and pick-pocketing in Lagos.

CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, Chairman of the Task Force, in a statement, said that the suspect was nabbed on Saturday at ‘Costain Bridge’ in Surulere by the ‘Enforcement and Monitoring’ patrol team of the Agency.

7. Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Advisory Council in Plateau, Captain Joseph Din (rtd), has urged the party to zone the 2023 presidency to the Southwest geopolitical zone rather than the Southeast.

According to him, the Southeast is not ready to produce the president of Nigeria.

8. The former Governor of Kogi State, Chief Clarence Olafemi, has disclosed that the proliferation of firearms after the general elections was responsible for the high cases of kidnapping and armed robbery in the state.

According to him, kidnapping and armed robbery cases got increased immediately after the Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

9. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) said Nigeria is sitting on a keg of gun powder due to what it described as the high rate and prevalence of drug addicts across the country.

The Director, Public Affairs, NAFDAC, Dr Abubakar Jimoh, Sunday said it was shocking that Nigeria was leading even beyond the international coverage of drug abuse globally.

10. The Catholic Bishop, Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah, has observed that killings in 20 out of 36 states of the federation and other abnormalities are indications that Nigeria is at a breaking point.

In his Easter message to Nigerians, the fiery cleric alleged that statistics continue to reel out indices of human existence which show clearly that Nigerians are desperately sliding into both chaos and despondency.
