1. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has rejected claims that he was against the granting of autonomy to local governments.

Ortom’s Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, said that the governor was surprised at the allegation which he described as “a misrepresentation” of his reaction to a statement credited to the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU).

2. The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi on Sunday urged Christians not to attack the President of the country through any means.

Kumuyi, who gave the admonition during his sermon at the Deeper Life Bible Church, Headquarters, Gbagada, in Lagos said that real Christians must obey constituted authorities and shun violence.

3. Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election, has petitioned the Court of Appeal over what he called a deliberate ploy, to truncate the constitutional timeline of the presidential election petition before the Tribunal.

According to him, the Tribunal has a timeline to prosecute the petitions, adding that 76 days have already been expended out of the 180 days allowed by law, as seen in Section 134 (2) and (3) of the Electoral Act (2010 as amended).

4. Chief John Odigie Oyegun, the immediate past national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that his successor, Adams Oshiomhole, lacks capacity to manage a political party.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Public Affairs Adviser, Chief Ray Morphy, Oyegun described it as “ludicrous and infantile and an attempt to dream up justification for the failings of the party under Oshiomhole chairmanship”.

5. A support group of the All Progressives Congress, APC Support Core, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately relieve the nation’s service chiefs of their jobs.

The group said the sack of the service chiefs had become imperative to pave way for the injection of fresh ideas into the country’s security architecture.

6. Satguru Maharaj Ji, the founder of the One Love Family sect, has said that familiar and highly notorious western imperialists are ganging up against the President Muhammadu Buhari government.

He said that President Buhari needs the support of all Nigerians to salvage the economy.

7. Senator representing Kogi West District in the National Assembly, Dino Melaye, has declared his intention to contest the Kogi governorship election scheduled for November 16.

Melaye, reportedly made the declaration on Saturday during a meeting of Kogi West PDP executives held yesterday at his country home in Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu local government area of the state.

8. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), has arrested a 48-year-old pastor in Abuja for alleged rape and sexual exploitation of a 16-year-old orphan.

NAPTIP’s Head, Press and Public Relations Unit, Stella Nezan, alleged that the suspect, a pastor in the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Church (MFM), Gwarinpa branch, impregnated his victim in the process.

9. President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday returned to Nigeria, after attending the 14th summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Makkah.

The presidential aircraft conveying the president and members of his entourage left the Jeddah airport for Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at about 2:45pm local time.

10. Nigeria will take on Senegal in the 2019 U-20 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 on Monday night.

The encounter is scheduled to kickoff at 7.30pm (West African Time)
