Ododo Emerges as APC’s Kogi Gubernatorial Primary Winner

Ahmed Usman Ododo, the former Auditor General for Local Governments in Kogi State, has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary election held in the State on Friday. With a total of 78,704 votes, Ododo won the direct primary election by a significant margin, defeating six other contestants.

On the eve of the primary election, seven other aspirants, including the state’s deputy governor, Edward Onoja, and Governor Yahaya Bello’s Chief of Staff, Pharm. Mohammed Asuku, withdrew from the gubernatorial race. Ododo defeated Barr. Mohammed Ozigi Salami, who received 1,506 votes, and Senator Smart Adeyemi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, who secured the lowest number of votes – 311.

The secretary of the Kogi State APC Primary Election Committee, Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon, announced the results on behalf of the panel’s chairman, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State, and declared Ahmed Usman Ododo the winner of the gubernatorial primary election.
