A mother, Adamo Yunusa, and her son, Saeed Yunusa, have been arrested for alleged assault on a 12-year-old girl, Sukura Suleiman.
The Gender Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, Kwara State Command, effected the arrest, according to the spokesman of the command, Ayeni Olasunkanmi, in a statement in Ilorin on Tuesday.
The two suspects were arrested at their residence in Ile Oniponmo, Ayelabowo in Oko-olowo area, Ilorin, the state capital.
The suspect alleged that the victim was beaten because she stole the sum of N2,000.
The Kwara State commandant of NSCDC, Muhammed Tukur Ibrahim, urged citizens to be vigilant and report any criminal act or security threat in their communities.
He further assured the state of the command’s readiness to respond to any security threat.
The two suspects shall be taken to the court to face the law, the NSCDC spokesman added.
