Gunmen suspected to be bandits killed one soldier and abducted another in Nasarawa State, along Ibbabu-Idadu in Doma Local Government Area. The deceased soldier was reportedly in civilian clothing when he was ambushed, and his motorcycle was found thrown into a nearby river. The kidnapped soldier’s whereabouts are still unknown.
According to a military source, bandits frequently terrorize farmers and market-goers in the Ibbabu-Idadu area, robbing and occasionally assaulting women. The late soldier, who hailed from Gombe State, was stationed at the Idadu army camp in Doma. His death has sparked fear among local residents, and many farmers have stopped going to their fields as a result.
In response to the attack, the 4 Special Force Doma has deployed personnel to search for the bandits and ensure their capture. Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, has offered his condolences to the Commander of the 4 Special Force Doma, Major General O.O. Soyele, over the soldier’s death. Describing the loss as a significant blow to the Nigerian Army and the nation, Dr. Akabe expressed hope that the deceased would find eternal rest and forgiveness for any shortcomings.
Major General Soyele thanked the state government for their sympathy and reassured them that the army is doing everything possible to address the situation.
