Kaduna Troops Intercept Large Ammunition Shipment Intended for Bandits

Operation Forest Sanity troops have seized a considerable amount of ammunition meant for bandits in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, near Polewire. The interception followed credible intelligence reports on gunrunning activities in the area.

In a statement issued by Commissioner Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, he explained that the troops conducted diligent checks and stopped a suspicious-looking vehicle, a black Toyota Corolla, within the area of interest. A search of the vehicle uncovered over 2,000 rounds of various grades of ammunition concealed in different sections of the car.

The exact quantities recovered included 1,079 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 886 rounds of 7.62mm belted ammunition, and 139 rounds of 7.62mm tracer ammunition, as well as five empty AK-47 magazines. The vehicle’s driver, Aminu Abdullahi, has been taken into custody for further investigation.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai commended the troops for their proactive efforts in preventing bandits from acquiring a major ammunition supply, which would have caused further destruction and suffering.
