Jigawa flood: Death toll hits 97 as two more residents die

Two more persons have died following a flood in Jigawa State which has already claimed ninety-five residents.

Police spokesperson DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident.

He said the two other people died as a result of a building collapsing at Tsagaiwa village in Miga Local Government and a drowning incident in Kiri village, Taura Local Government.

According to him after receiving the unfortunate reports, a team of Policemen rushed to the scenes and conveyed the victims to Hospital for medical attention, two were confirmed dead and two others were injured.

He said the corpses were released to relatives for burial according to Islamic rites.

A police spokesman explained that this brings the total number of those who have died as a result of the flooding to ninety-seven across the state.

He said the victims died as a result of canoe mishaps, building collapse, and drowning incidents.

The acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Bashir Ahmad, however, urged members of the public to be cautious, especially during this time of flooding.
