EFCC Arrests 12 in Kano and Katsina for Alleged Vote Buying During Supplementary Polls

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly arrested 12 individuals in Kano and Katsina States for alleged vote buying during Saturday’s supplementary polls. Faruk Dogondaji, the EFCC Kano Zonal Commander, informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the suspects were caught with N1.5 million cash in the two states.

According to Dogondaji, 10 suspects were detained in Doguwa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State, while two were apprehended in Kankiya LGA of Katsina State. The suspects were allegedly attempting to influence eligible voters with cash in certain polling units.

Dogondaji disclosed that the 10 suspects were found with N1,357,500 in Doguwa LGA, and the other two with N242,000 in Kankiya LGA. He added that the presence of EFCC personnel in the electoral process would contribute to the exercise’s credibility.

The EFCC commander stated that the suspects would face charges in court after the investigation concludes.
