The residents claim that the insurgents attacked Troops of 192 Battalion of Nigerian Army and Civilian JTF, on Sunday evening.
“The multiple attacks commenced at about 9.15pm Sunday with sporadic multiple gunshots, but soldiers and our boys fought them and inflicted casualties on them”, Leader of Civilian JTF, Abubakar Kalakwa told newsmen in Maiduguri.
The two border communities with Cameroon were severely attacked by insurgents with loss of many lives and property between 2014 and 2017.
The town was liberated in 2018 but have been experiencing attacks from time to time in an attempt to deny government relocating internally displaced persons back to their communities.
According to CJTF leader, the insurgents blew up the military gate at Pulka with explosives but could not penetrate the base.
“The insurgents came in two groups. The other group of insurgents followed through the Guduf Hills and attacked residents of Gwoza town. The 192 Battalion and Civilian JTF battle them with heavy T7 fighter tanks and gun trucks.
“Many Boko Haram terrorists were killed, while scores sustained various degrees of injuries, but the insurgents took away their dead colleagues and fled towards Sambisa Forest. No civilian was killed in the early hours of Monday attack here and in Gwoza town.” He said.
