APC’s Diket Plang Emerges Victorious in Plateau Central Senatorial Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Diket Plang of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the Plateau Central Senatorial election. Plang garnered 131,129 votes, defeating his closest rival, Mr. Yohanna Gotom of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The result of this election was initially withheld due to unresolved issues, but on Saturday, the APC candidate was officially announced as the winner. Diket, a former member of the State House of Assembly representing Pankshin North, will now join Simon Mwadkwon and Napoleon Bali, both of the PDP, who were previously declared Senators-elect for Plateau North and Plateau South, respectively.

INEC’s Returning Officer, Dr. Jimam Lar, announced that Diket Plang had received the highest number of votes in the election and had satisfied the legal requirements, declaring him the winner of the Plateau State Central Senatorial Zone. Plang’s PDP rival, Gotom, scored 127,022 votes, while Garba Pwul of the Labour Party received 36,510 votes.
