Why we granted approval of N100 billion agric bond to Finitiri – Adamawa Assembly

Members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, have broken the silence on why they unanimously approved Governor Fintiri’s request for N100 billion agric bond.

Speaking with the media in Yola, the House standing committee chairman on Information, Japhet Kefas, agreed that the decision to give accelerated passage to the letter written by the governor to the leadership of the House requesting an approval to access the bond was collectively done by all members.

Kefas, who is the incumbent member representing the Gombi constituency, said the members decided to give the approval because the governor via the letter, lucidly stated how the money would be used to develop the state and as well create job opportunities for the people.

The member who said they had been earlier informed that the bond was for the period of four years, said the state will only access N25 billion yearly.

N15 billion out of the N25 billion yearly for four years, according to him, will be used in liquidating loans earlier collected from one of the commercial banks.

Stressing that the interest rate of the said loan is increasing at an alarming rate, he said it would go a long way to prevent the state from debt.

While the state, according to the lawmaker, is targeting a revenue of about N100 billion yearly, if the aforementioned markets are eventually upgraded, the development, he said will as well boost the economy of the state.

Stating that Taraba State collects the sum of N1000 on every cattle “including those that are being transported from Adamawa to Jalingo “he said the reverse is the case for Adamawa, hence the reason behind the approval of the bond to allow for the upgrading of the markets.

The members who reiterated their determinations not to cease from throwing their weights behind the Executive arm of the government for the rapid growth of the state, also beckoned at the people of the state to do the same.
