We paid our abductors ₦15 million ransom – Ondo ADC chieftains

Facts have emerged that N15 million ransom was paid to secure the release of the Ondo State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Bisi Ogungbemi, the party’s senatorial candidate for Ondo North in 2019, Jide Ipinsagba as well as three others chieftains of the party who were kidnapped few days ago.

According to a source close to the senatorial candidate who preferred anonymity, N15 million was paid to the kidnappers who had initially demanded N20 million for each of the victims.

He further confirmed that the sum of N3 million was paid for each of the chieftains who were kidnapped last week on the Oba-Akoko axis of Owo-Akoko road on their way from a political outing in Ikare-Akoko.

Narrating his ordeal with the kidnappers, Ipinsagba stated that the abductors who spoke Hausa language made them trek for more than four hours before getting to their den in the thick forest.

He also disclosed that they were freed Friday night and got to Akure around 2am on Saturday.
