Aliyu Wamakko, former Governor of Sokoto State and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, has emerged victorious in the Sokoto North Senatorial Election District, defeating his closest rival, state deputy governor Manir Muhammad Dan’Iya of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by a margin of 23,023 votes.

Ibrahim Magawata, the Returning Officer for the Sokoto North senatorial election, announced the results on Sunday morning. After the supplementary elections, APC’s Aliyu Wamakko secured a total of 141,468 votes, while Manir Dan’Iya received 118,445 votes.
Wamakko’s victory marks his return to the red chamber for a third term. He previously served as deputy governor to Attahiru Bafarawa for over seven years, from 1999 to 2006, before resigning to run for governor due to political disagreements.
