PDP’s Fintiri Secures Victory Over Binani in Adamawa Governorship Election

The incumbent Governor of Adamawa State and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmadu Fintiri, has secured victory in the state’s supplementary governorship election, defeating All Progressives Congress (APC) contender Aisha Binani. According to the state Returning Officer, Professor Mohammed Mele, Fintiri amassed a total of 430,861 votes, while Binani trailed with 396,788 votes.

The collation for the supplementary election in Adamawa was previously suspended by INEC when the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa Ari, controversially announced APC’s Aisha as the winner of the Saturday supplementary election, violating the provisions of the Electoral Act. Under Section 25 of the Electoral Act, 2022, only the returning officer has the authority to declare the winner of a governorship election at the state collation center.
