Kidnapped Zamfara Students Released After 12 Days in Captivity

The two female students from Federal University, Gusau, Zamfara State, who were abducted by armed men in Sabon Gida community, have been freed after 12 days in captivity.

The Zamfara State Students Association confirmed the students’ release but did not provide information on whether a ransom was paid. Umar Abubakar, the Public Relations Officer of the association, expressed relief for the school management and the students’ parents, who endured the ordeal of the kidnapping.

Abubakar praised the school management’s dedication and the security agencies’ professionalism and relentless efforts that contributed significantly to the students’ release. He also commended fellow students and sister associations for their support, prayers, and assistance in securing the students’ freedom.

The association urged security agencies to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for the heinous crime, regardless of how long it takes, and to ensure the safety of their students in the future.
