FCT Minister Expresses Regret Over Inability to Woo Aduda to APC Before LP Tsunami

Malam Mohammed Bello, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has expressed his regret over his inability to convince Senate Minority Leader, Philip Aduda, to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) before the Labour Party (LP) tsunami in the February 25, 2023 National Assembly elections.

During a Sallah homage to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Bello shared that he had made significant efforts to bring Senator Aduda, representing the FCT in the upper legislative chamber, to the ruling APC but was unsuccessful. Aduda eventually lost his bid for re-election to the Senate to the Labour Party’s candidate, Ireti Kingibe.

Bello urged Aduda, a bridge builder even within the opposition party, to consider crossing over to the APC now that he has lost his seat to the Labour Party. The FCT Minister also jokingly suggested that Aduda should be posted to Ukraine as an ambassador since he has less than six weeks left in the Senate.

In response, Aduda, who praised President Buhari for his tolerance towards everyone, including the opposition, stated that he would consider the invitation to join the ruling APC.
