APC chairmanship: Ali Modu Sheriff condemns leaked audio of ‘PDP leaders’

Ali Modu Sheriff, an All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman aspirant says there is a campaign of calumny against him.

The former Borno Governor raised the alarm on Friday in a statement by campaign media director, Senator Victor Lar.

He condemned a leaked audio where some National Executive Committee (NEC) members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) allegedly wished for his emergence as APC chairman.

The ex-Senator recalled that he drew the attention of the public to a plan to portray him in a bad light.

Lar said Sheriff’s opponents were keen on causing “mischief and disaffection” between him, APC governors and party leadership.

The statement advised the ruling platform and the public to regard the purported message as “baseless and untrue”.

Lar noted that Sheriff’s hard work and the way he is going about his campaign had unsettled rivals.

He advised them not to drag President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC into the contest.
