A man in Adamawa State, Ibrahim Muhammadu, has been arrested by the police allegedly for setting a couple ablaze.
The couple, who got married only about two weeks ago, comprised a woman who allegedly jilted Ibrahim Muhammadu, DAILY POST learnt on Saturday.
Ibrahim Muhammadu, who hails from Gadawaliwol in Jabbi Lamba, Girei Local Government Area, who was angry with the lady for jilting him, got someone to set fire on the couple.
The act was carried out on Tuesday, September 6.
The woman has reportedly died of severe burns, while the man is still battling for his health at a clinic.
It was gathered that Ibrahim Muhammadu had fallen in love with the deceased and had spent some N150,000 on her after she agreed to marry him, only for her to dump him for her new man to whom she eventually got married.
Angry Ibrahim Muhammadu acted by paying a different person, Ibrahim Savanna, now on the run, to kill the woman in question.
Ibrahim Savanna, allegedly after collecting N5,000 and four mudus of rice from Ibrahim Muhammadu, armed himself with petrol, went to the house of the couple in the night of the fateful September 6, locked the house from the outside, and set fire to it.
He then disappeared from sight.
The police, after its preliminary findings, went after the jilted lover, Ibrahim Muhammadu.
The Adamawa State Police image maker, SP Suleiman Nguroje, has confirmed the matter, saying it is being investigated.
