Transfer: Real Madrid give Chelsea seven days to complete deal

Real Madrid have given Chelsea seven days to complete a deal for Mateo Kovacic, Goal reports.

Kovacic spent last season with the Blues on loan from the Santiago Bernabeu and was a regular under Maurizio Sarri.

Despite an impending two-window transfer ban, Chelsea have the option of signing the Croatian midfielder, as he’s already a registered player at the club.

However, they must do so by July 1. But Chelsea are yet to make a decision over the midfielder’s future.

The Blues can sign Kovacic, extend his loan or allow him to return to Madrid.

Real boss, Zinedine Zidane, deems the midfielder to be surplus to requirements and has his sights set on Manchester United ace Paul Pogba this summer.
