EPL: Joe Cole tells Chelsea not to allow ‘unbelievable’ player leave Stamford Bridge

Chelsea have been told not to allow ‘unbelievable’ Thiago Silva leave Stamford Bridge.

Former Chelsea winger, Joe Cole says the Brazilian has been a ‘fantastic signing’ for the Blues and believes there is ‘no reason’ why those in charge of the club should allow him leave as his contract expires.

Chelsea signed 37-year-old Silva on a free transfer in August 2020 and the Brazilian has displayed classy performances at the heart of Thomas Tuchel.

There is uncertainty over the Brazil International’s future, though, with the former Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan star’s current contract due to expire at the end of the campaign.

“There’s a lot of youthful and aggressive players around him and he’s been a fantastic signing,” Cole said, according to Metro.

“There’s no reason why he shouldn’t be given another one-year deal because he’s been outstanding.

“When he plays in the centre of a three, having the system where the wing-backs are high, he has so many options and when you’ve got a player with a range of passing like Thiago Silva he’s going to look unbelievable.

“He’s got the left wing-back, the right wing-back and he’s got options in midfield.

“He’s probably having the time of his career and he’s 37, it’s unbelievable.”
