Ronaldo breaks Serie A record after Juventus’ 2-0 win against Bologna

Juventus superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo overtook former Fiorentina star, Rui Costa to become the leading Portuguese scorer in Serie A history on Monday night.

Ronaldo scored from the spot in Juventus’ 2-0 win against Bologna, a result that saw Maurizio Sarri’s men move four points clear at the top of the Serie A table.

The goal was Ronaldo’s 22nd in Serie A this term, one more than the 21 he managed in his debut season for the Bianconeri following his move from Real Madrid in the summer of 2018.

In reaching 43 goals, Ronaldo moved beyond Costa as the Portuguese player with the most goals in Italy’s top flight, Goal reports.

Costa spent eight years in Serie A, playing for Fiorentina and Milan between 1994 and 2006.

Speaking after Juventus’ victory against Bologna, Ronaldo expressed happiness over the win, adding that it was a significant victory for the Turin club.

“Important victory! Game after game, always together! #finoallafine #forzajuve,” Ronaldo wrote on Instagram.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo remains the top Portuguese scorer in Premier League history with 84 goals in 196 appearances for Manchester United and also in La Liga history with 311 goals in 292 appearances for Real Madrid.
