Police arrest suspected rapist, recover gun in Delta

The Delta State Police Command led by CP Ari Muhammed Ali has arrested a suspected rapist, Ayuba Adavo.
The police also recovered one locally cut to size gun with one live cartridge from the suspect.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the report in a statement signed and made available to DAILY POST.
The Police image maker said the suspect was arrested based on the strength of a case of a twenty-five-year-old lady(name withheld) while she was along Amagiya road Sapele.
DSP Edafe said,” Suddenly the suspect who is aged 34yrs blocked her way and dragged her to his room.
“Threatened to shoot her with a locally made cut to size gun and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
“That the suspect thereafter slept off because he was heavily drunk.
“The victim on noticing that the suspect was fast asleep sneaked out and ran to Sapele division where she reported the case.
“Consequently, patrol team/detectives were drafted to the scene. The suspect was promptly arrested.”
He said an investigation is ongoing.
