Oyo suspends student over invasion of school with hoodlums

Oyo State government on Tuesday said it has suspended a female secondary school student in Ibadan for invading the school premises with hoodlums.

The girl until the incident, was a student of Jericho High School, Ibadan.

DAILY POST gathered that the girl, alongside her mother, had last week, gone to the school with some hoodlums and assaulted visitors attending a PTA meeting.

A male student, some teachers and parents were allegedly assaulted during the attack.

The state government in its reaction said it has taken over the matter and suspended the student as a first step.

Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Rahman Abiodun Abdu-Raheem in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday, expressed displeasure over the incident.

He said, “The mayhem was said to be ignited by the girl’s mother and other accomplices, thereby, causing tension in the school.

“The state government is taking further action, to serve as a deterrent to other unguided parents and wards”.
