A 23-year-old man, Godspower Adigheti has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command for allegedly hacking his girlfriend, Gift Oloku, to death.
It was learnt that the suspect allegedly killed Oloku, a student of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, for destroying his iPhone 11 Pro Max.
According to reports, Adigheti had engaged the deceased who was cohabiting with him in a fight over her activities in the house.
It was gathered that in the process of the heated argument, the screen of the suspect’s iPhone 11 Pro Max was smashed.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the lady died in a hospital.
He said, “On July 16, 2022, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ozoro received a distress call that one Godspower Adigheti, 23, of Oramudu quarters, inflicted machete cuts on his 22-year-old girlfriend, Gift Oloku.
“The lady was taken to a hospital where she was confirmed dead. Meanwhile, the suspect is in custody and investigation is ongoing into the matter.”
