How Buhari will observe Eid—Presidency

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to conduct his Eid prayers at home, with his family.

His spokesman, Garba Shehu, made this known on Friday.

He said the decision was in observance of the lockdown measures in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Shehu said it was also in accordance with the directive of the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Sa’ad Abubakar III, who suspended the Eid congregational prayers.

The statement disclosed that Buhari also considered the protocol against mass gathering issued by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

Shehu added that the President, who traditionally shared the Eid moment with top government officials, political leaders, community heads, Muslim and Christian religious leaders and children, will not receive homages this time.
