Gov. Ortom speaks as gunmen attack Nasarawa Deputy Governor, Akabe

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Wednesday condemned the attack on the Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe by gunmen along Lafia – Abuja road.

Unknown gunmen had attacked the convoy of Akabe and in the process killed three policemen and a civilian.

Akabe was on his way to Abuja on an official engagement when his convoy ran into the robbers who were operating a few kilometres away from Akwanga at about 6pm, yesterday.

Reacting, Ortom described the attack which resulted in the death of some security men as “unfortunate and sad.”

A terse statement by Ortom’s Chief Press Secretary, said: “Governor Ortom sympathizes with the Nasarawa State Deputy Governor and members of his entourage and prays God to console families of those who lost their lives in the incident.”
