Europa League final: Petit sends message to Arsenal ahead of Chelsea clash

Arsenal legend, Emmanuel Petit, has urged the club to return to the level they were before, by beating Chelsea in the Europa League final on May 29 in Baku.

He also said that this year will be a failure for Arsenal if Unai Emery’s men don’t beat their London rivals in the capital city of Azerbaijan.

Arsenal defeated Valencia 7-3 on aggregate in the semi-final on Thursday to book their place in the Europa League final, while Chelsea defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 4-3 on penalties shootout.

“For me the pressure is on Arsenal to earn a Champions League place for next season,” Petit told Paddy Power.

“If they don’t beat Chelsea in Baku, this year will have been a failure.

“It’s fine to have an occasional bad season and end up in the Europa League, but Arsenal have been struggling to fight for the Champions League places for a while – they need to return to the level they were at before.”
