EPL: Chelsea identify former player as Maurizio Sarri’s replacement

Chelsea have identified Derby County manager, Frank Lampard as Maurizio Sarri’s replacement at Stamford Bridge.

Recall that Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, is ready to sack Sarri after their Europa League final against Arsenal on May 29.

Abramovich is ready to cut short the 60-year-old’s time at Stamford Bridge.

It is believed that the Russian billionaire’s decision is not based on Chelsea’s achievements this season, but Sarri’s poor relationship with the club fans.

However, Sport Mediaset is now reporting that Lampard, a Chelsea legend, is already “booked” in to replace Sarri at the West London club in a deal that could be official soon.

The report also claimed that Sarri could possibly return to Serie A as he eyes potential jobs at AC Milan or Roma.

Sarri has had a difficult first season at Chelsea, failing to win the club’s supporters over with his style of play.

Sarri’s men finished in third position on the 2018/19 Premier League table with 72 points from 38 games.
