Eid-el-Kabir: Buhari gives 2 cows, 20 bags of rice, N1m to NYSC members

President Muhammadu Buhari, Tuesday, in Daura, Katsina State, gave two cows from his farm, 20 bags of rice and N1, 000,000 (one million naira) to members of the National Youth Service Corp, NYSC that visited him.

Buhari said that the scheme has a deep impact on Nigerians, adding that it broadens the horizon of citizens, opens up opportunities and enhances understanding of cultural differences.

Buhari spoke at his country home when he recovered the NYSC members serving in Daura, who paid homage to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The President told the corps members that he had consistently commended General Yakubu Gowon rtd, for creating the scheme.

“Everytime I meet with former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, like recently, I still commend him for the initiative of the NYSC. The NYSC is spectacular in many ways.

“Some of you have come from Port Harcourt, Lagos and Calabar and you can now feel the heat of Daura and how close it is to the desert,” he said.

The President said the NYSC scheme was well thought-out to unite the country through understanding.

“I feel very strongly about the NYSC and I am wishing you all the very best. I assure you that you will be much better as Nigerians after your experience,’’ he added.

According to his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari gave the NYSC members two cows from his farm, 20 bags of rice and N1, 000,000 (one million naira).
