Doguwa Secures Victory in Supplementary Election, NNPP Candidate Ousts Incumbent APC Rep in Kano

House of Representatives Majority Leader, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency, has been declared the winner of Saturday’s supplementary election in the area. Returning Officer Professor Sani Ibrahim announced Doguwa’s victory after he garnered 41,573 votes, defeating his closest rival and New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) candidate, Yushau Salihu Abdullahi, who scored 34,831 votes.

Doguwa’s election was previously declared inconclusive due to violence during the February 25th presidential/National assembly election in the Tudun-Wada area of the Constituency.

In a separate race, New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) candidate Barrister Muhammad Bello Shehu unseated the incumbent Fagge Federal Constituency House of Rep member, Aminu Sulaiman Goro of the All Progressive Congress (APC), who was serving his 3rd term in the Green Chamber. The Returning Officer, Prof. Ibrahim Suraj, declared Shehu the winner after he received 19,024 votes, while Goro of the APC obtained 8,669 votes.
