Delta govt approves appointment of two new monarchs

The Delta State Government has approved the appointments of Ovie Whiskey and Johnson Ologho as the new Ovie of Idjerhe and Odion of Emevor Kingdoms in Ethiope-West and Isoko North Local Government Areas respectively.

The Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Ehiedu Aniagwu disclosed this during a news briefing in Asaba.

The approval of Ovie Whiskey, a veteran journalist as the King of Idjerhe Kingdom is coming after a keen contest between him and other candidates.

He was recently elected by the People of Idjerhe after the demise of their King two years ago.

Mr. Aniagwu further debunked rumours that the total reconstruction of the pathology building and the upgrade of the clinical facilities of the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, DELSUTH, Oghara was being handled by a relative of the governor at a whooping sum.

He said the two projects were being handled by two reputable firms to enable the hospital be at par with facilities in developed societies.

On the flooding in parts of the state, Aniagwu reiterated that the State Government was not going to set up holding camps.

He added that plans were on to mitigate the impact of the flood on citizens through the Ministry of Environment.

Meanwhile, he expressed hope that the current economic climate cannot derail the ‘Stronger Delta Vision’ of Governor Okowa
