Customs seize 319 bales of second-hand clothing

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Comptroller-General of Customs (CGS) Strike Force Team, Zone B, has seized 319 bales of second-hand clothing and other items smuggled.
The clothes were seized through Katsina State borders, the team Coordinator, Deputy Controller Olorukoba Oseini-Aliyu disclosed this on Tuesday in Katsina, while displaying seized items to newsmen.
Oseini-Aliyu announced that the items seized during the last 40 days between Oct. 11 and Nov. 20 had Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N67 million.
The coordinator warned Nigerians to stop patronising second-hand items of clothing to safeguard their health.
“As the year is coming to an end, some smugglers want to take that advantage to smuggle prohibited items into the country.
“My advice to smugglers is simple; they should change their mind for the better and start legitimate trades.”
Oseini-Aliyu appealed to the public and media to support the service in its efforts to stop the dangers associated with smuggling.
