Compensate those you demolished their houses, shops before you leave office – Makinde tells Ajimobi

The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Oyo state, Engineer Seyi Makinde has enjoined Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the state to compensate those whose houses and shops were demolished in the last two years before he leaves office in May next year.

Makinde in a statement issued by Prince Dotun Oyelade, his media aide, a copy which was made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday, said, “I implored Ajimobi to compensate fully those whose houses and shops were demolished two years ago before he leaves office”.

The PDP chieftain while describing a statement credited to Mr. Bayo Adelabu, an APC gubernatorial candidate that Ajimobi has performed credibly well as untrue, however declared that Ajimobi in the last seven years has destroyed means of livelihood of poor people in the state.

He described the situation where people’s properties are being destroyed without due compensation as a crime against humanity.

Makinde said that, “Contrary to the statement credited to the APC gubernatorial candidate, Chief Bayo Adelabu at different fora that the governor has performed well and without blemish in the past seven and a half years, destroying the means of livelihood of poor people without adequate compensation or no compensation at all is crime against humanity.

“Anyone who promises to continue with Ajimobi’s legacy as Chief Bayo Adelabu has said many times is telling us the following: that LAUTECH will remain in permanent state of crisis and virtual extinction.

“That Oke Ogun roads will remain in permanent state of disrepair and the area will never fulfil it’s potentials as the food basket of the state. That the unsurpassed debt profile put at N157bn will continue to rise.

“That Pensioners will continue to languish in hunger and deprivation in contrast to the opulence of the few government officials and their contractors”.

Makinde concluded by saying that, “Recent events have shown that it is better for a governor to win an election through the trust of the masses than through the machinations of so called godfathers who have no feelings for the downtrodden”.
