The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Kebbi State, General Aminu Bande (retd.), has rejected the results of the recent governorship election, which declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Nasir Idris as the winner. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that Idris won with 409,225 votes, while Bande secured 360,940 votes.
General Bande stated that he and the PDP would pursue legal action to reclaim their mandate, emphasizing that the votes earned by the PDP during the election were genuine, credible, and verifiable. Addressing the media in Birnin Kebbi, Bande expressed gratitude to PDP supporters for their steadfastness throughout the struggle, assuring them that the party would not let them down.
The PDP candidate urged his supporters to maintain peace and order while calling on the state government to release over 60 PDP members currently detained without justification.
