1. The Nigerian National Assembly has released stringent guidelines for fresh media accreditation.

In a guideline released by the management on Monday and signed by the Director of Information, Mr. Emmanuel Rawlings Agada, the NASS requested for fresh application letter from journalists intending to cover the plenary.

2. The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday met with President Muhammadu Buhari in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Garba Shehu, Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, quoted Tinubu as appealing to elderly Nigerians to avoid inflammatory statements, that could undermine peaceful co-existence among the nation’s diverse communities.

3. The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has cautioned a certain Southwest political leader and his collaborators in the APC-led Federal Government to steer clear of Senate President, Bukola Saraki and jettison the new plot to unleash EFCC and other anti-corruption agencies in order to intimidate him.

They accused the Lagos-based political leader of the Southwest and some of his cronies in the corridors of power of planning to embarrass Senate President Bukola Saraki using the government’s anti-corruption agencies and based on politically-motivated charges.

4. The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo North senatorial district has vowed to resist alleged attempts by the Edo State government to tarnish the image of the party’s national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Leaders of the party in the senatorial district urged the State governor, Godwin Obaseki, to call his media team to order, alleging that they had embarked on campaign of calumny against Oshiomhole, with a view to joining his political opponents across the nation in scandalizing his name.

5. The Chairman, Kaduna State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Joseph Hayab, on Monday said the abductors of a pastor and 14 others at ECWA Church, Dankade, have reached out to the families of the victims demanding for N30 million ransom.

Hayab confirmed that the kidnappers immediately switched off their phone after presenting their demand.

6. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has approved the immediate withdrawal of Certificate of Recognition and staff of office from His Royal Majesty, Chief Frank Noryaa, Gbenemene Baabe.

According to Wike, the withdrawal of government’s recognition from HRM Noryaa followed his alleged indictment on cult-related activities within his kingdom.

7. Rep. Yusuf Buba (APC-Adamawa) on Monday announced that he is withdrawing from the race for 9th Assembly Speakership to support the candidature of Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila (APC-Lagos).

The lawmaker said it was in the spirit of fair play that he decided to step down, given that the APC had zoned the office of the Senate President to the North East.

8. The Oyo state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed an application filed by Mr Adebayo Adelabu, governorship candidate of the APC to recount all the ballot papers used in the March 9 election.

Delivering his ruling on Monday, the three-man panel, chaired by Justice Sirajo Muhammed, dismissed the application, adding that it would jeopardise the respondents’ right to fair hearing.

9. Suspected Fulani herdsmen have allegedly killed a 35-year-old farmer, Mr. Ariyo Aina, on his way to the farm at Ogga community, in Yagba West Council of Kogi State.

National president of Ogga Progressive Union (OPU) Mr. Bamidele Olure, told journalists yesterday in Lokoja that Aina was murdered on Saturday.

10. Nigerian musician, Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley was, on Monday, arraigned at the Federal High Court in Lagos and subsequently remanded in prison custody over an alleged credit card fraud.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) charged him with 11-counts before Justice Nicolas Oweibo, but he, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges when read to him.
