What Sarri told Abramovich about sacking him after Europa League final

Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri and owner, Roman Abramovich held crunch talks in America, following their win over New England Revolution earlier this week, the UK Times reports.

Despite leading the Blues back into the Champions League at the first time of asking and masterminding their run to the upcoming Europa League final against Arsenal, Sarri’s position remains the subject of intense speculation.

The Italian has failed to establish a rapport with the club’s fans and has been criticised for his abrasive man management style.

Sarri was able to hold rare face-to-face talks with Abramovich in the US, who has been unable to attend any of Chelsea’s matches at Stamford Bridge this season.

Should the club want to sack him less than 12 months into the three-year deal he signed last summer, Sarri is said to want immediate notification following next Wednesday’s final in Baku.

The 60-year-old brought 11 members of staff who worked with him at Napoli to west London and they are all out of contract in the summer, with negotiations over potential extensions yet to commence.

Sarri’s stock in Italy remains high with Milan, Roma and Juventus all said to be considering moves for him.
