Sheikh Zakzaky’s wife on isolation, COVID-19 result not out yet – Prisons Comptroller

The Controller of Kaduna Correctional Service, Ibrahim Maradun has reacted to claim that Zeenah, wife of leader of Islamic Movement of Nigeria Ibrahim El-Zakzaky tested positive for coronavirus in prison.

Recall that the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, otherwise known as Shi’ites, had lamented the continued incarceration of its leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenah Ibrahim, alleging that they may have contracted the deadly COVID-19.

IMN also said it was deeply concerned that even six days after contracting the dreaded virus in prison, Zeenah, had not been taken to any specialized hospital for such patients to receive proper medical care.

Reacting, Maradun during an interview with newsmen said he is yet to receive the test results after Zeenah’s sample was taken on Wednesday by officials of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

He also confirmed that Zeenah has been in isolation since her sample was taken.

“As far as I am concerned, NCDC officials took her sample on Wednesday around 5 pm and I am yet to receive the result.

“She has been in isolation since that day and her personal physician has been seeing her from time to time in company of the doctors representing the state and the correctional service.

“However, our facilities are safe and all our inmates are highly protected from the virus,” he said.
