Ogun confirms 108 new cases of COVID-19, discharges 16 patients

Ogun State on Tuesday recorded 108 cases of COVID-19, being the highest to have been recorded in a day, so far.

DAILY POST reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced the cases on Tuesday night.

Cases of Coronavirus in the state have spiked up to 471.

It was gathered that 16 persons were also discharged on Tuesday after testing negative.

“On the 9th of June, 2020, 108 COVID-19 cases were confirmed by the NCDC in Ogun State.

“This makes the total number of confirmed cases in the State, since the index case in February, 471.

“At the same time, the State discharged 16 patients, who have recovered from the virus, to continue living their usual lives with their families.

“These newly discharged cases make the total number of discharged cases in Ogun State 202.

“There are currently 256 active cases being treated by State and Federal health authorities, while contact tracing continues for the patients.

“Unfortunately, the State has a total number of 13 related deaths recorded, making it extremely important for everyone to comply with stated guidelines.

“The public is advised to maintain preventive measures recommended by recognised health authorities,” the state government said in a statement on its social media platforms on Wednesday.
