Mourinho to join Newcastle on one condition

Former Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho will only join Newcastle United on one condition, according to Sportmediaset.

The Portuguese will become manager of the newly promoted side only if Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan completes his takeover of the club.

Newcastle on Monday confirmed that their manager, Rafa Benitez, will leave the club once his contract expires on June 30.

Mourinho has been viewed as a possible replacement for the Spaniard.

The Portuguese tactician has been out of management since leaving Man Utd in December.

The newspaper reports that Mourinho is named as a possible successor to Benitez and it’s even noted that he could take former Inter star Marco Materazzi with him to form part of his backroom staff.

However, the report noted that Al Nehayan’s take over is one crucial factor which will determine whether or not he will return to England so soon.

And until the takeover deal is done, it’s highly unlikely that Mourinho will step in.

The former Chelsea manager will ultimately want to join a club capable of spending big and competing for major honours moving forward.
