In a sudden and tragic event, suspected kidnappers launched an attack on Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, resulting in the death of one individual and the disappearance of several others.
The culprits reportedly descended upon the Ijara/Isin road on Tuesday, abducting a number of travellers. A local chief from Pamo Isin community, Mr Adeyemi, was among those killed in the attack.
A message circulated on the community’s WhatsApp forum issued a warning to the residents and indigenes, urging them to avoid traveling along the Ijara/Isanlu Isin road due to the recent kidnappings. The message highlighted the tragic loss of Chief Adeyemi, who was killed during the incident.
SP Okasanmi Ajayi, the spokesman of the Kwara State Police command, confirmed the incident while speaking in Ilorin on Wednesday. He verified that one person had been killed, and according to available information, one person was still unaccounted for.
“Policemen were deployed to the scene yesterday. I will push out details as soon as it is available please,” Okasanmi added. The police are actively investigating the incident and working to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped individuals.
