He said the body language of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, indicates that the ‘marauding herdsmen’ are being protected by the government.
Fadahunsi, who is the Senatorial candidate on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the Osun East Senatorial district stated this while fielding questions from journalists at the Osun NUJ Correspondents’ chapel in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
He also decried the menace of illegal mining in the state, mostly by the people of Northern extractions, as he promised to make a legislation to curb this if elected.
“None of the Fulanis will rear cattle without AK47, and the government of the day is protecting them; do anything to them and you will get calls from above, they are indeed untouchable”, he said.
He charged the government to be proactive and responsible in the management of the economy to reduce poverty and create employment to the teeming youths.
“If you want the economy to be good, the manager of the economy must be serious. Osun would have been one of the richest states in Nigeria, but for poor management.
“It has become imperative for we in the Southwest geo-political zone to focus on our God-given arable land and enhance agriculture.
“We need to reawaken and improve agriculture in the areas of cocoa, kola nut, coffee, yams, cassava and plantain plantation and ensure the supply of improved seedlings.”
