Umar Abdu Umar, the son of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and a contestant in the House of Representatives election under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has challenged the victory of Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) at the tribunal.

In Rimin-Gado, Dawakin Tofa, and Tofa Federal Constituency, Jobe was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Barrister A.T Falola, Umar’s counsel, has also challenged INEC’s decision to declare Jobe as the candidate who received the majority of the votes cast during the election.
With an ex-parte application, Falola approached the Tribunal and requested that the court processes be served on Jobe, and pasted on the Kano NNPP Secretariat located at Sharada. The Tribunal granted the order as requested.
