Europa League: What Emery said about Ozil after Arsenal’s 3-2 win over Vitoria

Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, tried to avoid questions on Mesut Ozil, following his latest Arsenal absence during their comeback win over Vitoria Guimaraes.

Record signing Nicolas Pepe stepped off the bench and struck two late free kicks to hand Arsenal a 3-2 win on Thursday night.

Again, £350k-a-week Ozil not included in the matchday squad..

The German playmaker has played for just 142 minutes so far this season and hasn’t appeared since the win over Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.

Asked about his absence post-game, Emery told reporters: “I think tonight is not the day to speak about that.

“I prefer to speak about the match and about the players that played.

“He was not in the squad, that is the decision. We will now work for Sunday.”
