EPL: Mikel Arteta singles one player after Arsenal defeated Burnley

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has singled out defender, Magalhães Gabriel for praise after the Gunners recorded their first away Premier League win of the season against Burnley on Saturday.

Arsenal defeated Burnley 1-0, thanks to Martin Odegaard’s superb free-kick at Turf Moor as Arsenal clinched their second successive win of the new campaign.

Arteta described Gabriel’s performance against Burnley as ‘terrific’.

“We know he’s [Gabriel] a player with an incredible future who has already given us a lot,” Arteta said at his post-match press conference.

“It doesn’t get much harder than playing here in the Premier League and he was terrific today.”

Arteta added: “It was a hard-fought victory at a really tough place. You have to be ready for a fight.

“In the first half we had some really good periods when we were really dominant and should have scored more goals. In the second half we gave the ball away cheaply too many times.

“We have players who are not at their strength playing in this type of game, but they did their best and we got the win.

“I’m very proud of them defensively and I’m really pleased with the win.”

Arsenal’s next fixture is against Wimbledon in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.
