Brentford vs Arsenal: Aubameyang, Lacazette out of Arteta’s squad for EPL opener

Arsenal captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and fellow striker, Alexandre Lacazette, will both be unavailable for their Premier League opener at Brentford on Friday night.

The Athletic reports that both players are ill and may not be ready for the fixture.

This will be a big blow to club manager, Mikel Arteta, who is looking to start the 2021/2022 campaign on a high.

Arteta has led the Gunners to two consecutive eighth-place finishes in the league.

The Spaniard would have to tweak his attack against Brentford.

Nicolas Pepe is expected to start on the left, while either Bukayo Saka or Gabriel Martinelli could partner him in attack.

Arteta could even opt to throw in Folarin Balogun, who was promoted to the first team last season.

Kick off is 8pm WAT.
