In the early hours of Sunday, a tragic attack occurred at the Christian Pentecostal Church in Akenawe-Tswarev community, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State. One worshipper lost their life, and three individuals, including the resident pastor, were kidnapped during the assault.
According to local sources, the incident unfolded while the congregation was attending a service. Dr. Hemen Terkimbi, a community leader and President of the Gaambe-Tiev Youths Association (GYA), confirmed to reporters that one person was killed and the church’s Resident Pastor, Gwadue Kwaghtyo, was abducted.
Five individuals, including Zaki Tyokase Ingyutu, the acting Kindered Head of Akemkpa, sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals in Ugba and Anyiim rural towns of Logo LGA.
Mrs. Salome Tor, Chairman of Logo LGA, confirmed the incident via telephone, stating that the attack took place in the early hours of Sunday. She described the scene: “As they were praying, they were surrounded by the armed men. They kidnapped three people, killed one boy, and injured two people with machete; they are now in the hospital.”
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Catherine Anene, has not yet responded to calls or messages regarding the incident.
