Ballon d’Or 2019: Alisson Becker identifies player that shouldn’t win award, gives reason

Liverpool goalkeeper, Alisson Becker has ruled himself out of winning this year’s Ballon d’Or.

The Brazilian shot-stopper does not believe he is worthy of contending for the Europe top individual prize, despite winning the 2018-2019 UEFA Champions League with Jurgen Klopp’s side.

According to him, he is just a goalkeeper that limits himself to doing his job.

When asked if he could win the 2019 Ballon d’Or after helping Brazil reach the 2019 Copa America final, Becker was quoted by Marca as saying: “I just limit myself to doing my job.

“There are a lot of top players aspiring for that prize.

“I’m just a goalkeeper.”

In the Ballon d’Or’s history, only one goalkeeper, Lev Yashin, has won the award, and this happened in 1963.
