Arewa. Ng learnt that the development has resulted to the postponement of the conduct of the election by 24 hours.
Our correspondent, who monitored the exercise at Ibadan North Local Government secretariat, venue of the Oyo South district primary, observed that hundreds of party delegates and supporters were stranded waiting endlessly for arrival of election materials, which it was learnt were yet to arrive from party headquarters in Abuja.
It was further observed that the materials for the election which was earlier scheduled to hold at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan were yet to arrive as at the time of filling this report.
It was gathered that the same setback was recorded at Durbar Stadium, venue of the Oyo Central district primary. Similar story was recorded in Iseyin, venue of the Oyo North primary as party men, supporters and delegates were said to have arrived as early as 9am and till 5pm on Tuesday, the electoral materials were yet to arrive.
Public Relations Officer of the state chapter of the APC, Dr AbdulAzeez Olatunde, who confirmed the logistics problem added that “the primaries may likely suffer a 24 hour postponement due to lack of election materials at the designated venues.”
It was gathered that the National Assembly primaries committee, are still in Abuja as at the timing of filing this report, fueling speculations that the election may be put on hold till tomorrow, Wednesday.
DAILY POST gathered that top politicians fighting for the APC Senatorial tickets in Oyo South are the incumbent governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and Dr. Fola Akinosun.
Others are Senator Teslim Folarin; Hon. Temitope Olatoye Sugar and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, Mr. Bimbo Kolade (Oyo Central)
The Senator who is currently representing Oyo North, Abdulfatai Buhari has no opponent in the race.
