Akeredolu planning to hand over forest reserves to son, Babajide – Group alleges

A group, Ondo State Concerned Timber Merchants, OSCTIM, has alleged that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has been scheming to hand over forest reserves in the state to a consultancy company linked to his son, Babajide.

The group, which raised the alarm in a statement issued over the weekend, alleged that there was a clandestine plot to carry out the plan.

In the statement signed by the State Coordinator of OSCTIM, Alhaji Olawole Idris, maintained that in order to actualize the plan, the state government had placed a ban on all forestry activities in the forests on August 31, 2021.

He noted that the recent pronouncement from the state government on the lifting of forestry activities pointed in the direction that the new consultant will soon resume operations.

Meanwhile, the state government had earlier stated that there was a grand plot to blackmail the governor, his immediate family and the state government.

The State Commissioner for Information, Donald Ojogo disclosed that there was no such plan for the governor’s son to take over the forest reserves.
